DESIGNER MAKERS MARKET AT TENNANTS LEYBURN (last weekend)

and THE WITHAM BARNARD CASTLE

17 and 18 November

http://www.designermakersmarket.co.uk/

Here are just a handful of the artists who caught my eye last week and details of where you can see them next:

JULIE SMITH – Happy Dance Sea Glass

Each piece of glass for these gorgeously querky and unusual sea glass pictures has been hand picked by Julie on local beaches.  You can find this lovely lady at The Designer Makers’ next event at The Witham, Barnard Castle on 17 and 18 November, where she will be more than happy to chat to you about her passion for her craft. To find out more about her click here

KEITH SHORROCK Furniture and Boxes

If you adore the textures and colours of wood then you too would enjoy talking to Keith.  Each one of his little boxes is a unique work of art in itself.  They would make gorgeous containers for trinkets; they are so reasonably priced they might even make an unusual box to contain an extra special gift.

Check out his website for more images of his boxes and to view his unique furniture.  Click here

Keith will be exhibiting at Crafted By Hand at Masham town Hall on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November.

ELIZABETH SHORROCK – Mixed Media and Handmade Books

Keith’s other half, Elizabeth Shorrock, was also at Leyburn Designers Markert this year. Her handmade and beautifully bound notebooks would make fantastic Christmas presents, as would one of her courses.  Find out more about her in the link to her website:  Click here

DALTON – Creative Hand Built Pottery

Pat’s work is inspired by the North East coastline. She often incorporates her beach combing finds into her pieces, such as the mussel shells you can see here. I really like her us of glass which creates the effect of a pool in the bottom of the dish.  If you are interested in finding out more about Pat’s work you can contact her on 07835 419102

SNOW & CROW – Printmakers

Whilst husband Alan continued with the lino cut demonstration onto fabric, Helen had a nice chat with me about the process of lino cutting.  I learn so much in just 5 minutes or so it’s spurred me on to get my lino cutting kit out again.

Find more of their work on their Folksy shop  http://www.folksy.com/shops/snowandcrow

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this blog and that it has inspired you to visit the event at:

Crafted By Hand at Masham 3 and 4 November which will be showcasing the best artists and craftmakers in the North of England, http://www.visitmasham.com/events/event/crafted-by-hand-2/

and the Designer Makers’ Market coming up shortly at The Witham, Barnard Castle.  You’ll find lots of interesting ideas for gifts.
