Lisa Empson

lisa3“I’m a retired teacher and artist. I became an artist in 2011 as a direct result of powerful coaching, when my coach challenged me to show my work publicly. From there I developed confidence to exhibit; at first in car boot sales and craft fairs, then later galleries in and around York. Mainly self taught I began by working in watercolour after attending a watercolour workshop run by artist Susan Neale.  Since then I have gained confidence to explore new subjects and mediums – ever mindful that it is the journey that is more important than the destination.”

More recently Lisa has been exploring working in acrylics and in particular with a palette knife. For her the joy of painting is “in the journey not the destination”; painting purely for pleasure, following the journey the paint takes her and being absorbed totally in and mindful of the moment.
